Teachers’ Closet
As we gear up for a new school year, the Fuquay-Varina Chamber’s Teachers’ Closet is again asking for contributions to help stock the shelves to provide much needed materials for our local teachers and their classrooms. We are accepting surplus office supplies, school supplies and other items that can be used in art classes. Any items may be dropped off at Stephens Supply during regular business hours. A special collection opportunity will be at the Fuquay-Varina Chamber’s Business Expo on Thursday, Aug. 25 from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. at the Fuquay-Varina Community Center, 800 S. Main Street. Admission is free but attendees are asked to bring surplus office supplies to help stock the shelves of the Teachers’ Closet. Adult volunteers and their canine companions are needed to make short in-room visits with eligible, consenting patients. Dogs will be physically and behaviorally screened by veterinarians and their owners will complete volunteer orientation.
