2010 North Carolina Gourd Arts and Crafts Festival The 69th annual N.C. Gourd Arts and Crafts Festival will be on Sept. 11-12 at the Holshouser Building (aka, Village of Yesteryear) at the State Fairgrounds in Raleigh. You can get information about growing, cleaning, and crafting gourds. Winners will be declared in contests for gourd growing (largest, smallest, most unusual), gourd crafting, and creations by gourd artists from across the state. Vendors will be selling dried gourds, gourd seeds, gourd crafts, crafting supplies, books and gourd art. There will be a gourd crafting table for children and gourd workshops. Holly Springs Food Cupboard Holly Springs Food Cupboard has incorporated as a NC non-profit and has signed an umbrella agreement with Apex’s Western Wake Crisis Ministry to provide food and resources for those in need in Holly Springs. It is the hope of the volunteers organizing this service that all of Holly Springs will join in the effort to take care of our own. Volunteers will collect, organize and distribute nonperishable food items in September along with supplemental resources from Western Wake Crisis Ministry. Yoga in the Park Yoga in the Park is back for its third year at the Mineral Springs Park on South Main Street. Meals on Wheels needs volunteers Meals on Wheels is currently seeking volunteers to deliver meals to the elderly and homebound in the Fuquay-Varina/Holly Springs area.
