Rotarian William Rousseau of the Holly Springs Rotary Club presided Wednesday, May 23rd, at the installation of officers of the HS High School Interact Club. Installed as President for the 2012-13 school year was rising senior Emilee Winter. Ms. Winter had earlier been awarded the Rotary Youth Leadership Award which conducted its leadership training program in April of this year.

Serving as Vice President will be Gillian Fortier. As Secretary, Alberto Quieraga. As Treasurer, Max Noordeloos. And, as Sgt. at Arms, Shelby Hayes. Fortier, Noordeloos and Shelby Hayes also served on the current year leadership team.

Recognized for their accomplishments in 2011-12, and discharged from further Interact Club responsibilities for the current school year were Madison Hayes, President; Cailey Munana, Vice President; Emilee Winter, Secretary; Shelby Hayes, Treasurer; Max Noordeloos, Sgt. at Arms; and committee chairs Katie McNally, Sophia Potepalov, Gillian Fortier and Cameron Martin. Also recognized was faculty advisor Lisa Lamb.

Participating from the HS Rotary Club, in addition to Mr. Rousseau, were Christine Quante, Club President; Chris Edwards, President Elect, Connor Key, Robert Williams and Randy Weaver.

The HS High School Interact Club has distinguished itself by becoming the largest and most active Interact club in Rotary District 7710, which encompasses some 45 Rotary clubs. Mr. Rousseau observed that the club achieved its outstanding results because everyone involved, from officers and committee chairs down to the individual members, did what they said what they would do. "You honored your commitments and kept your word," he said. This simple fact was made possible by the individual decisions made by the various members. "Decisions," continued Rousseau, "Become habits. Habits reveal your character, and your character determines your destiny." He commended the club members as being in the "top 10%" as a consequence of being true to their commitments.

Outgoing President Madison Hayes was awarded a "Past President" pin. She then presented a summary of all of the community service projects completed by the club in the past year. Interact clubs are affiliated with and sponsored by local Rotary clubs.
